With the general elections set to clash the Indian Premier League, it is expected that BCCI might push few matches away from the home. However, the acting president of BCCI Amitabh Choudary is confident of hosting the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) in India itself.

In the recently concluded Auctions at Jaipur, the acting president quoted that they are planning to host IPL 2019 in India. However, the venues and dates are yet to be confirmed. With general elections are on their way to collide with the lucrative tournament in 2019, BCCI is taking its time to reveal the schedule.

“We are trying our best to ensure that not a single game is taken out of India.” said Choudhary during the IPL auction here on Tuesday.

Unlike every year, this time, the officials set to organise Indian Premier League at the start of the year. Especially, with ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner. During the course, the general elections are disturbing the planning of the respective board.

It is not the first time that elections are colliding with the IPL tournament. Earlier, the tournament was forced to host in South Africa for the very same reason. In a case of shifting the venue, they might consider UAE, as it already got the experience of hosting the event partially.

Due to the World Cup in England from May 30-July 14, the IPL is likely to run from last week of March to mid-May. They will be announcing the schedule as soon as the schedule for the General elections is released.

All in all, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for the upcoming season. Most probably, as Amitabh said, they would like to host in India for obvious reasons. Meanwhile, auctions are done and dusted.
