The trading has already begun with Delhi Capitals roping in Ravichandran Ashwin in an epic deal. With the auctions coming closer, the teams will want to free up some space in the squad to procure new talents. As a result, they will release some of the cricketers.

Along with these, many new talents will go up in the auctions which will take place in Kolkata on December 19. This kind of auctions has set careers of many cricketers while many big names have failed to attract any bidder.

Mushfiqur Rahim has been one of Bangladesh’s star wicket-keeper batsman. His contribution to the country’s cricket is unparallel. He was once again at his best in the recently concluded T20I series against India. Although they lost the series, it was Rahim match-winning 60-run knock that helped the Bangla Tigers take 1-0 lead in the series.

However, the talented cricketer is yet to find a bid in the IPL. During the last auctions as well, Rahim remained unsold after setting a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Only a handful of Bangladesh cricketers like Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman has made their impression in the cash-rich league.

Rahim will all hope will once again go under the hammer but is unlikely to attract any bidder during the high-profile auctions.

SHAUN MARSH

Shaun Marsh came to the inaugural edition of the IPL as an unknown commodity and stunned one and all winning the Orange Cap finishing as the highest run-scorer playing for Kings XI Punjab. He has been a regular since then, however, failed to attract any buyer in the last two seasons.

Despite that, the southpaw has been a hero in his own country dominating the batting charts across the formats. With another auction lining-up, Marsh will be keen to don an IPL jersey to showcase his talents at the biggest platform in the world.

Unfortunately, the veteran left-handed batsman could remain unsold in the auctions.

IRFAN PATHAN

Irfan Pathan emerged as one of India’s finest all-rounders. But suddenly lost his touch with the ball in a bid to concentrate more on his batting and soon found himself out of the Indian team. But he is still a stalwart in the domestic circuit and in the IPL.

Currently, he represents Jammu & Kashmir as a player and head coach. Pathan has failed to attract any buyer in the last two editions of the tournament after playing for Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. Although he works as a commentator, Pathan still has some cricket left in him.

He recently entered the draft of the Caribbean Premier League but BCCI asked him to withdraw his name from the auction list. It is likely that Pathan will want to have a last go in the IPL but there are very limited chances that he will find any bidder.

ALEX HALES

Alex Hales is one of the devastating openers in modern-day cricket. However, the swashbuckling batsman has lost his touch recently after the drug ban which ruled him out of the 2019 ICC World Cup where England lifted the prestigious trophy for the first time in history.

Hales has a great T20 record of over 6000 runs from 228 matches including three hundreds. He also had a good outing in IPL 2018 scoring 148 runs in the 6 outings but attracted no buyers in the last edition of the tournament.

The 30-year-old Englishmen is not great form in recent times as well and is unlikely to find any bidder this time around. Hales returned without a single half-century from the Caribbean Premier League where he represented Barbados Tridents.
