Kolkata Knight Riders star Andre Russell has said he is hopeful of turning things around with the bat after a poor start to the season. The West Indies star impressed with the ball during the ten-run win over Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday but failed to get going with the bat again.

After complaining about his batting position in last IPL, Andre Russell is being given ample overs to bat in the ongoing edition. However, he is yet to fire with the bat. In five games so far, the hard-hitting allrounder’s scores are – 11, 24, 13 and 2. He has shown glimpse of his dangerous batting but is yet to register any big score.

However, the string of low scores has not dented his confidence. Following the game against CSK, Andre Russell said he is confident of finding his batting form soon.

“I’m still confident (about finding form with the bat) and these things happen in cricket and I’m still working to find my way,” said the Jamaican.

But while he failed to get going with the bat, he did make a big impact with the ball. He bowled the crucial 18th over of the game which probably turned the match in KKR’s side. CSK needed 39 runs from the last three overs and Andre Russell conceded just three runs. He went on to defend 25 runs in the final over to help his side return to winning ways.

“That’s the beauty of this game. Didn’t go well with the bat and I made up with the ball today. Big moment bowling the pressure overs and I’m happy. Cross-seamers are the danger balls on this surface and once it hits the seam, it kicks. CSK bowlers used that a lot and I made sure I executed it well when I came onto bowl,” said Andre Russell about his bowling against CSK.
