IPL 2020 Auction: Star Sports Confirms The Timing Of Event

IPL auction has always been one of the most-followed events in the calendar year. Fans of all the franchises will eagerly watch the auction to have a look at the team composition of their favourite teams. As always the upcoming IPL 2020 auction will have a lot at the store, with a few big international players going under the hammer. In the latest development, Star Sports confirmed the timings of the event.

The massive event will take place in Kolkata on December 19th. This is the first time since 2008 that the IPL auction will take place away from Bangalore. Replying to one of the fan’s queries, Star Sports India took to Twitter to confirm the time.

According to their reply, the broadcast of the auction ceremony will commence from 2:30 PM Indian Standard Time. It can be viewed on its various regional platforms like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bangla and of-course Hindi.

Star Sports India, in their tweet, said, “Hi! Catch the #VIVOIPLAuction on December 19 from 2:30 PM, LIVE on Star Sports 1 Hindi/1 HD Hindi, Star Sports First, 1 Tamil, 1 Telugu, 1 Kannada, 1 Bangla; from 3:20 PM on Select 1/1 HD.”

A total of 73 slots including 29 foreigners will be up for grabs in the IPL 2020 auction in Kolkata on December 19. A total of 332 players, including 19 Indian capped players have been shortlisted from the original list of 971 as the eight franchises get down to fill the remaining 73 slots available in the Indian Premier League.

Surprisingly, the franchises have added 24 new players, including the likes of West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams, Australian all-rounder Dan Christian, leg-spinner Adam Zampa and Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim. As per the reports, the auction will begin with batsmen before moving on to all-rounders, wicket-keepers, pacers and spinners.
