Former Australian spinner, Brad Hogg has hailed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players, especially skipper Eoin Morgan for holding the middle-order throughout the tournament.

KKR remains alive in the tournament after their thumping victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday. The Knight Riders defeated the Royals by a massive margin of 60 runs and jumped to the fourth spot on the IPL 2020 points table.

After the wickets of Rahul Tripathi and Andre Russell, it seemed that KKR might finish with a par score. However, Morgan’s assault in the last couple of overs catapulted their total to 191. A four-wicket haul from Pat Cummins ensured that KKR not only wins the game but also win it by a big margin in order to close the net run rate gap between them and Delhi and Bangalore.

Eoin Morgan has been phenomenal for KKR this season. The added pressure of captaincy handed to him by Dinesh Karthik hasn’t affected his batting. The left-hander has scored 418 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 138. Pat Cummins, who has now found his mojo late in the tournament was sensational with the new ball picking up 4 wickets in the powerplay.

Brad Hogg took to Twitter after KKR’s victory praising Pat Cummins and Shubman Gill. But the Australian chose skipper Morgan as his pick of the tournament for carrying the middle-order after starts from Gill.

Brad Hogg tweeted, “#KKR have a nervous two days, yes @patcummins30 has been brilliant, but the pick of the tournament was @Eoin16 who has carried there middle order all tournament, complementing the excellent starts from @RealShubmanGill #IPL2020 #KKRvRR,”

Here is the tweet from Brad Hogg about Eoin Morgan:

KKR made a jump from 8th to 4th spot and is tied at 14 points with Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. All three teams are close on the NRR as well. RCB and DC will square off in Abu Dhabi on Monday. While a victory for one team will ensure the second spot, a loss for the other by a big margin will ensure KKR’s qualification. Else they would hope for Mumbai to beat Hyderabad.
