England star Jason Roy continues to be one of the most devastating opening batsman in international cricket. He is one of the main reasons behind England’s remarkable transformation in white-ball cricket. Earlier this year, the opening batsman starred for England in their historic triumph at the ICC World Cup at home.

He started the tournament in formidable form by scoring a half-century against South Africa and a brutal 153 against Bangladesh before suffering a hamstring injury against West Indies and could only watch-on as England suffered tournament threatening defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia. England then rushed him back into the squad and the right-hander proved his worth straightaway.

After returning from the injury, he scored 66, 60 and 85 while sharing three century partnerships with the fellow opener Jonny Bairstow. But unlike his form in international cricket, Roy’s form in IPL has left a lot to be desired. The right-handed batsman has not really lived up to the expectation in IPL so far. He started his journey in IPL in 2017 with Gujarat Lions before moving to Delhi Capitals in 2018. During those two seasons, he played just eight games with an unbeaten 91 in a successful run chase for Delhi his only score above 31.

Jason Roy will now have a chance to prove himself in the IPL once again in familiar territory as he has been re-signed by Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. With Shikhar Dhawan struggling at the top in recent times, Jason Roy could form an explosive partnership with Prithvi Shaw.
