IPL 2020: Dhawal Kulkarni Traded To Mumbai Indians; Evin Lewis Moves To Rajasthan Royals

Fast-bowler Dhawal Kulkarni has returned to his home franchise ahead of the next IPL after Rajasthan Royals trades him to defending champions Mumbai Indians. The right-arm pacer, who is one of the most experienced cricketers in domestic circuit, had started his journey in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians.

He had played for Mumbai Indians between 2008 and 2013 IPL seasons before he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for 2014 season. He also plied his trade for Gujarat Lions when Rajasthan Royals were serving a two-year ban. In the last season, Kulkarni played 10 matches for Rajasthan Royals and picked up six wickets at an average of 55.83, an economy rate of 9.83.

For Mumbai Indians, he played 33 matches between 2008 and 2013 and picked up 36 wickets. Overall in the IPL, Kulkarni has picked up 90 wickets at an average of 27.95 and has an economy rate of 8.26. The Royals, meanwhile, have roped in opening batsman Evin Lewis from Mumbai Indians in return for Kulkarni.

The West Indies played for Mumbai Indians in the last two seasons but just could not live up to the expectations. In the two seasons, he managed just 430 runs from 16 outings at an average of a shadow below 27 including two fifties.

In other deals, Rajasthan Royals have also traded Krishnappa Gowtham to Kings XI Punjab as well as their former skipper Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi Capitals.  Gowtham, who was bought for Rs 6.2 crore at the 2018 auction from his base price of INR 20 lakh, played 15 games in 2018 and seven matches in 2019. In return for Gowtham, Royals have roped in Ankit Rajpoot from Kings XI Punjab.

On the other hand, they have roped in Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia from Delhi Capitals in exchange for Ajinkya Rahane. The trade window will close today while the auction will take place on December 19 in Kolkata.
