SunRisers Hyderabad, on Thursday, thrashed Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets to return to winning ways. With the win, SRH remain in contention for a playoff spot. The win was their fourth in ten games this season.

Chasing 155, SRH crossed the finishing line with ease in 19th over thanks to Manish Pandey and Vinay Shankar’s fine knocks. The Hyderabad-based outfit were off to a poor start with Jofra Archer sending back David Warner and Jonny Bairstow inside the third over.

However, Pandey and Shankar shared an unbeaten stand of 140 runs to take their side home with 11 balls remaining. Pandey remained unbeaten on 83 off 47 deliveries. His knock was studded with 4 boundaries and eight sixes. Shankar, on the other hand, scored an unbeaten 52 off 51 deliveries.

Earlier in the game, SRH bowlers did well to restrict Royals to 154 for 6 after the latter were off to a good start. At 86 for 1 in the 12th over, the Royals were looking set to post a big total. However, the SRH bowlers pulled things back and managed to restrict Royals to 154.

Speaking at the end of the game, SRH captain David Warner hailed the performance of his side. He was delighted with the way the bowlers pulled things back after the powerplay and the performances from Pandey and Shankar.

“I think the way we started was fantastic. We were able to bring it back after the powerplay. It’s been a complete game, we have been asking for. Good to see two guys getting the reward,” said David Warner.

David Warner also expressed his frustration over getting out to Archer in the very first over and concluded by praising Jason Holder who took 3 wickets for 33 runs on his debut.

“I was frustrated. You try hard to get through the first over, but with someone bowling at 150ks, you can’t do much. You can take him on. We saw a lot of dew last night during training, and it came in again. Jason adds strength to our bowling, his experience, he’s an all-round package. He’s a great inclusion,” said David Warner.
