The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will go head to head with Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai for the 47th match of IPL 2020 on Tuesday. Both the teams are coming off major losses that they suffered on Saturday.
In their last meeting earlier in the tournament, SRH defeated DC by 15 runs on the back of Rashid Khan’s three wickets. However, things have gone contrasting ways since then as the Capitals sit at the second spot and looking set to enter the playoffs, while the Sunrisers are languishing at the 7th spot and a loss against Delhi will mean curtains for them.
Delhi has lost two matches in a row for the first time this season. A solid looking Delhi outfit has performed ordinarily in their last two games. Their bowling has been up to the mark, but it is the batting that has failed to fire in unison.
Ajinkya Rahane, who replaced Prithvi Shaw couldn’t make most of the opportunities, while Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer are yet to live up to their hype this season. Marcus Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer will once again have to share the responsibilities in the batting department.
The notion of any bowling attack which faces SRH is the same- get the openers out, or even one and choke the middle-order. Too much reliance on David Warner and Jonny Bairstow has hurt them heavily – it was the same story last season as well for SRH. Kane Williamson looked their best batsman in the middle-order. Unfortunately, he is injured.
Except for an odd inning against Rajasthan, Manish Pandey has been a major let down. Vijay Shankar has been inconsistent, and his strike rate is an issue. The young shoulders of Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad can only handle a certain amount of expectations. Jason Holder will be expected to hold the middle order, but only if they bat him up the order.
Apart from Rashid Khan and T Natarajan, no bowler in the SRH squad has made telling contributions. Their Indian fast bowling contingent of Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul, Basil Thampi, all have leaked runs at the high economy. Their team is in disarray and depended heavily on a few players for success.
IPL 2020, Match 47: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals- Match Prediction
Sunrisers will look for inspiration in Warner and Rashid once again. However, Indian players need to contribute significantly if they are to have a chance against Delhi. The Capitals may have lost their last two games.
But barring an opening spot, they at least have a lineup stable. Ricky Ponting will charge up his boys to go for the win and seal a playoff spot. The prediction is for Delhi to register a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad and end their campaign.
