The Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah for match 56 of IPL 2020. Both the teams emerged victorious in their penultimate league matches – Mumbai trumped Delhi by nine wickets, and Hyderabad defeated Bangalore by five wickets.
Mumbai is assured of the numero uno position on the IPL 2020 points table even if they lose their last league match. On the other hand, Hyderabad side has to win the game to qualify for the playoffs. SRH currently sitting on the fifth spot will overtake Kolkata – and the loser of the Delhi-Bangalore match on superior net run-rate if they win against Mumbai.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will enter the contest with huge momentum which they have gained in the last two matches. SRH beat DC by 88 runs and RCB by 5 wickets and have looked at their best this season. The bold decision to drop Jonny Bairstow for Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha in order to accommodate Kane Williamson has worked like a charm for Hyderabad. Manish Pandey, though inconsistent, has produced runs when the team needed.
Jason Holder has provided the all-round balance SRH needed after Mitchell Marsh was ruled out. Holder has 8 wickets in 4 matches and struck a quick 10-ball-26 against RCB. The middle-order with Kane Williamson looks and Jason Holder looks solid.
In the bowling department, Sandeep Sharma and T Natarajan have been highly impressive- one in the powerplay and the other in the death. The ever-threatening Rashid Khan is well-supported by Shahbaz Nadeem.
Mumbai Indians have been the most dominant team of the tournament, such that they didn’t lose any two consecutive games throughout. In absence of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard took up the opening and captaincy duties, respectively. MI comprises a highly successful middle-order between Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, and the Pandya brothers.
They have won several games on the back of their bowling. Trent Boult has dented opposition in the powerplay and in the middle overs, and there is no hiding for a batsman from Jasprit Bumrah. Rahul Chahar is having a dream season having already scalped 15 wickets. James Pattinson and Nathan Coulter-Nile, whoever played in the eleven have done a decent job of providing support to Bumrah and Boult from the other end.
IPL 2020: Match 56: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad- Match Prediction
With MI having a fixed place in the qualifier, they will be tempted to rest some of their key players, especially the pacers. While it would still be an arduous task to put up a challenge against MI, SRH should look to make the most out of this situation. The prediction is for Hyderabad to win the game and make it into the playoffs.
