Defending champions Mumbai Indians shelled out a staggering amount of INR 8 crore to sign up Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile for the upcoming season of IPL. Nathan Coulter-Nile will further bolster the team’s attack which already boasts the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians opened the bidding for Coulter-Nile at INR 1 crore. Chennai Super Kings soon joined the race as both the teams went neck to neck for the pacer. And when the price touched the 8-crore mark, Chennai Super Kings decided to give up.

Nathan Coulter-Nile has ample experience of playing in the IPL. His journey in the tournament started in 2013 with Mumbai Indians only. He, however, played just one game that season which came against Kings XI Punjab. On his IPL debut, he took 1/29 from four overs bowling, and scored nine runs from six balls while batting, with the Indians losing by 50 runs.

At the 2014 IPL auction, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 4.25 crores. In February 2017, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders team for 3.5 crores. He was part of the playing eleven for the Knight Riders that bowled out Royal Challengers Bangalore for just 49. In the following year, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 2.2 crores.
