With their second consecutive victory, Rajasthan Royals kept themselves alive for a place in the playoffs of IPL 2020. Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals gunned down 186 against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi with 15 balls and seven wickets to spare. The win lifted the Rajasthan Royals to the fifth position in the IPL 2020 points table.

Chris Gayle led Kings XI Punjab’s innings after Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first. KL Rahul found it slightly challenging to get going on a slow wicket; however, Gayle kept punishing the bowlers as and when they missed their lengths. It was indeed unfortunate for Gayle to miss out a well-deserved 100 as Jofra Archer knocked his stumps in the final over.

Rajasthan Royals could not have begun their chase in a better manner as they raced to 60 in less than six overs. Robin Uthappa was only a spectator as Ben Stokes carried the task of power-hitting, pushing Kings XI Punjab on the backfoot. The southpaw raced to 50 off only 24 balls and perished two balls later. Nevertheless, the later batsmen left no room to stutter as Steve Smith and Jos Buttler were the last men, driving them home. Stokes earned the second consecutive man of the match award for his quick-fire half-century, a magnificent catch, and two wickets.
