In Qualifier 2 of IPL 2020, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will go head-to-head with Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Sunrisers had defeated the Capitals in both the league stage encounters.

Mumbai thrashed Delhi in Qualifier 1 by a 57 run margin. On the other hand, Hyderabad trumped over Bangalore in a last-over thriller. While SRH is on a four-match winning streak and has the momentum with them, Delhi, in contrast, have lost five of its last six matches. We have seen several one-sided contests in the last month, the penultimate game of the IPL might just be another one.

Apart from the fitness concern of wicket-keeper opener Wriddhiman Saha, Sunrisers Hyderabad hasn’t much to worry about even after they escaped a loss against RCB. The biggest positive for SRH from the eliminator will be the performance of their middle-order after David Warner was dismissed. Manish Pandey batted according to the demand of the situation. Kane Williamson and Jason Holder held their nerves and didn’t flinch under the pressure of a run chase.

The bowling department is as complete as SRH could have hoped for this season. With the inclusion of Holder -who has been terrific at either end of the inning – the bowling looks stronger than they have in the entire season.

Sandeep Sharma has been consistent with his swing and seam movement in the powerplay, while in the death T Natarajan has emerged as a sensation with his accurate yorkers. Shahbaz Nadeem has played a perfect supporting role to the ever-threatening Rashid Khan.

There aren’t too many changes to point out in the line-up of Delhi Capitals, as of course, it is a highly talented eleven – but it is more to do with the confidence and mental state of this team. Complacency might have crept in the team after having won 7 of their first 9 games. However, Ricky Ponting isn’t likely to do several changes after their loss against Mumbai.

Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant are looking awfully out of touch; the former gets out playing a rash shot, and the latter isn’t given the license to play his natural game. Form of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer has dipped in the last three weeks. Ajinkya Rahane will have a heavy responsibility on the Abu Dhabi pitch, which will suit his style of play.

Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, and Ravichandran Ashwin are Delhi’s only consistent performers throughout the season and were their only positives against MI. To add to their miseries, star pacers, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje had a forgettable outing in qualifier 1. Their fifth bowler – Indian or overseas – has been expensive all season.

While Delhi might try and match Hyderabad in the bowling department, Delhi’s batting seems low on confidence and form. It isn’t easy to envisage DC’s batsmen take apart the SRH bowling in Abu Dhabi. The prediction is for the David Warner-led side to continue the juggernaut and reach the grand finale of the IPL 2020.
