Mumbai Indians could miss their skipper Rohit Sharma for the game against Rajasthan Royals too as the opening batsman continues to struggle with a hamstring injury.

The right-handed batsman had sustained the injury against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai last Sunday and has been sidelined since then. Earlier this week, he also missed the game against Chennai Super Kings. In his absence Kieron Pollard had donned the captain’s hat.

According to a report in ANI, the Mumbai Indians management is looking at the next game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday for the regular skipper to return as that would mean a 10-day break from the day of the injury.

With the Australia tour round the corner, Rohit Sharma’s injury management is all the more important as he is now an integral part across all formats for the national team. Earlier this year, he had to miss the ODI and Test series in New Zealand after suffering a calf injury during the T20I series on the same tour.

“Rohit Sharma has suffered a left leg hamstring strain during Mumbai Indians’ last outing. Rohit has made good progress over the last four days, while the management is taking one day at a time monitoring the recovery process in consultancy with BCCI. Rohit has been advised to rest for the match against CSK,” the franchise had said while giving an update on their skipper’s injury before the clash against CSK.

Mumbai Indians, however, didn’t miss their skipper much against CSK as they won the game comprehensively by ten wickets. Bowling first, the restricted CSK to 114 for 9 in the stipulated 20 overs before chasing down the total inside 13 overs without losing any wicket.

Ishan Kishan, who opened the innings in Rohit’s absence, and Quinton de Kock shared an unbeaten 116-run stand. Kishan scored an unbeaten 68 off 37 balls while de Kock scored 46 off 37 balls.
