Aaron Finch is one of the best limited-overs openers in the world right now and was expected to cause a bidding war at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. And he did manage to cause a bidding war as Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders went all out for him. Finch, who registered himself at the base price of INR 1 crore, eventually went to Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 4.4 crore.

Finch will provide some much-needed solidity and consistency to Royal Challengers’ batting. His inputs as a leader will also come in handy. The Australia star has also proved himself as a captain, leading his team to a famous ODI series win in India and the semifinal of the 50-over World Cup. Finch started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals squad in 2010. He was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils IPL franchise in the 2011 auction and then played for the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions as well as Kings XI Punjab.

Finch was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL Auction. He was released by the franchise at the end of the season. Finch decided he would opt out of IPL 2019 so that could prepare for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
