IPL 2020: Uncapped Players Who Could Play All Matches For Their Respective Franchises

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a breeding ground for unearthing young talent each season in the cricket frenzy nation. It gives a platform to players where they can stake their claim to be considered for the Indian team. Players such as K.L Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah fine-tuned their skills in IPL before making a grand entry in the senior team.

IPL 2020 will begin from 29th March and ahead of another big season, every franchise will put their money on young guns alongside experienced players as well. After the conclusion of the trading window and auction, all that’s left now is for teams to get the details into place.

Like every season, a lot will be expected from players playing in the domestic circuit. But there are some uncapped players who you need to watch out for.

So keeping that in mind, today, we’re taking a look at uncapped players from each team who are widely expected to play all matches for their team in the IPL 2020:

Yashasvi Jaiswal – Rajasthan Royals

One of the most promising youngsters from the domestic circuit, Yashasvi Jaiswal is so talented that there was a bidding war in the IPL auction to sign him.

Eventually, Rajasthan Royals were able to sign him for a staggering amount of ₹2.4 crores. Now, with that kind of a big price tag, one thing becomes clear, that Royals will give him ample playing opportunities.

The 17-year-old is the youngest batsman to hit a double century in list-A matches.

In the recently concluded Vijay Hazare trophy, Yashasvi scored 564 runs in total, including three centuries and a half-century.

He comes from a very humble background, so the money won’t get into his head. Expect big things from this young lad.

Ishan Porel – Kings XI Punjab

Ishan Porel came into the limelight after his stellar performance against Pakistan, playing for India U-19 team. Unfazed by the occasion of semifinals of the Under-19 World Cup, he took four wickets in his six wickets giving away just 17 runs.

Since then, he has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit that made Kings XI Punjab(KXIP) a suitor for him.

The Mohali-based franchise bought Porel for his base price of 20 lakhs.

After getting snubbed by teams for IPL’s previous edition, the right-arm pace bowler kept his head focused and made sure his performances landed him a buyer this year.

Varun Chakravarthy – Kolkata Knight Riders

Varun is a regular feature in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) where he earned his reputation of being a consistent bowler. Despite bowling the majority of his overs in the powerplay and slog overs, in the year 2018-19, he bowled 50 per cent dot balls which is a big feat.

After signing for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL last year, he managed to play just one game all season.

The 28-year-old has been picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders this time.

Having released Piyush Chawla, KKR has shown faith in Varun, meaning the onus is now on him to make the best use of this opportunity.

Harshal Patel – Delhi Capitals

Harshal was retained by Delhi Capitals owing to his spectacular outings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season. Playing for Haryana, the 29-year-old showcased his talent with both the ball and the bat.

Across the whole tournament, he picked up 19 wickets in 12 matches, with a superb economy of seven. He was third in the standings of most wickets taken.

Meanwhile, Harshal scored 374 runs in 12 matches with an average of 31. He finished the tournament with fourth-highest batting figures.

Such a strong showing in the domestic circuit will surely mean that Harshal can stake a claim in the Delhi unit, to play all games or at least the majority of them in IPL.

Ruturaj Gaikwad – Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings decided to retain Ruturaj Gaikwad who had a strong season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer after hitting 419 runs at the average of 41.

The 22-year-old had a strike rate of 146.5 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and continued his good run of form in Ranji Trophy as well. Playing against Chattisgarh on a difficult track of MCA Stadium in Pune, Ruturaj hit 108 runs off 199 balls.

His powerful innings included 14 fours and 3 sixes. All these signs mean that Ruturaj has the stature to be a consistent player in the starting 11 of CSK.

Suryakumar Yadav – Mumbai Indians

A consistent name on the playing 11 of Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav will be expected to play all matches for his team in the IPL 2020. He is the captain of the Mumbai team in domestic circuits, which in itself speaks a lot about his talent.

In his IPL career, the 29-year-old has played 85 matches, scoring 1548 runs, including seven half-centuries. He played a crucial knock of 102* against Vadodra in the Ranji Trophy recently, taking his team to a big win of 309 runs.

The next step in Suryakumar’s career will surely be to make his way into the national team. So far, he has been overlooked, but a good season in the IPL 2020 can change that.

Devdutt Padikkal – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Despite the presence of Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore has not won the IPL even once.

However, the franchise can look to challenge for the trophy after having secured the services of Devdutt Padikkal.

He is one of the most exciting prospects of Indian cricket due to his aggressive batting style. Under the tutelage of Kohli, the youngster can fine-tune his skills to take his game to the next level.

As for his introduction, the 19-year-old finished as the highest-scoring batsman in both Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy as well. After generating such a hype, RCB would definitely make good use of Devdutt in the upcoming campaign.

Priyam Garg – Sunrisers Hyderabad

Another youngster who caused a bidding war in the IPL 2020 auction, Priyam Garg’s talent is there for all to see. Eventually, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) forked out ₹ 1.9 crores to rope in the right-handed batsman.

He is the current captain of the India U-19 cricket team, which is contesting in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. He made his List-A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the year 2018, but since then his stock has risen massively.

SRH has a series of great openers but they need a talented player in the middle order to plug the gaps.

Priyam could very well do that. Expect him to achieve great things in the blue jersey in the coming years.
