The last couple of days were really tough for India skipper Virat Kohli. He was criticised from several quarters after an indifferent performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Kings XI Punjab.

He dropped Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul twice and the latter went on to make his India captain pay a big price for the same. Rahul was on 83 and 89 when he was dropped by Virat Kohli and went on to smash an unbeaten 132 off just 69 balls. His stunning knock was studded with 14 fours and seven sixes.

After being dropped by Virat Kohli, Rahul smashed 42 runs from just 9 balls. In the 19th over, he hit Dale Steyn for 26 runs before ending the innings by hitting Shivam Dube for a four and two sixes on the final three balls. Riding on Rahul’s knock, Kings XI Punjab went on to post a huge total of 206 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs.

As if those twin drops were not enough, Virat Kohli failed with the bat too. The RCB captain managed to score just 1 before being sent back by Sheldon Cottrell. RCB were all out for just 109 to suffer a crushing 97-run loss. He had faced severe criticism from the fans for his poor display against KXIP.

Following the setbacks on the field, he and his wife Anushka Sharma found themselves in the middle of the controversy due to batting legend Sunil Gavaskar’s alleged unsavoury comments. On Friday, Anushka had slammed the former India skipper for the same before the latter stated that his comment was twisted and was taken out of context.

But while Anushka was quick to react to the matter, Virat Kohli chose to remain silent. On Saturday, he finally took to Twitter to break his silence after the tough last few days although he did not write anything about the incident. Instead, he posted a picture of the RCB team from the training session and highlighted the importance of unity and desire as the Bangalore-based outfit look to bounce back.

“Unity is the vehicle, desire is the fuel,” wrote Virat Kohli.
