IPL 2018: Mahendra Singh Dhoni Becomes First Captain to Amass 5,000 T20 Runs

The match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Chinnaswamy turned out to be a high scoring thriller. Visitors CSK completed their chase in the last over with a trademark Mahendra Singh Dhoni six to finish off things in style.
CSK’s chase of 206 was set up earlier by Ambati Rayudu and completed by the blitzkrieg of skipper Dhoni himself.
The former Indian captain Dhoni played one of his best knocks in recent times in the Twenty20 fold His 34-ball 70-run knock completely eclipsed the brilliance of AB de Villiers.
During his freak knock, Dhoni went on to accomplish an extraordinary feat and added yet another feather to his regal crown.

With his second half-century in the season, Dhoni amassed a whopping 5,000 runs in his T20 career as a skipper, establishing new and high benchmarks.
The right-handed batsman now has 5010 runs to his tally in T20 cricket as captain. Next in line is former Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir.
The Delhi-based southpaw has 4,242 runs under his belt, captaining the two IPL franchise apart from Delhi team.
Moreover, Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leader, Virat Kohli is third in the aggregate scoring list in T20s as captain.
Kohli has 3,591 runs to his name, almost 1400 runs behind MSD, who hasn’t captained India since 2017.
Australia’s domestic stalwart Martin Klinger, with his tally of 3,084 runs as captain, is fourth on the esteemed list. Klinger has captained various sides in the Big Bash League (BBL) such as Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers, and the Red Backs.
Pakistan veteran, Shoaib Malik, also finds himself in the elite list of players for the most number of runs in T20 career as a captain.
Malik has 2, 902 runs to his name while leading Sialkot, PIA, Chittagong Vikings, Multan Sultans, and Karachi Kings.
