Among two brilliant knocks from the wicketkeeper batters of the respective sides, the other man rose to the occasion during an impressive win turned out to be leg-spinner Ish Sodhi.

The Kiwi spinner Sodhi was right on the money, pressing for flight and guile. He bowled with a good control and never looked like the latest addition to the side.

Sodhi scalped one wicket and conceded just 14 runs from his four overs.

Chasing 159 to win, the Kings XI unit faltered at halfway mark. They found themselves in a spot of bother with the scorecard reading 81 for six at one stage. But KL Rahul’s unbeaten 95 turned out to be the sparkling talking point that made the game interesting.

Apart from Rahul, only one batter reached the double-figure mark-Marcus Stoinis, who made 11 from 16 balls.

Rajasthan bowled beautifully as Krishnappa Gowtham and Jofra Archer made life terrible for the Kings’ batsmen. Gowtham sent back Chris Gayle very early in the innings. Gayle was out after scoring one, stumped off a wide delivery.

Skipper Ravichandran Ashwin promoted himself up the order but failed to open his account.

Sodhi trying to pick Warne’s brains:

Kings are at the third spot while Rajasthan moves up to sixth. Rahul’s 95 off 70 went in vain but he scored 66.45 of the team’s run. While on the other side, Sodhi’s economy rate of 3.50 was the best in the game.

Lanky spinner in Sodhi is getting some valuable advice from none other than Shane Warne, who is the mentor of Rajasthan camp.

Earlier in the week, Ish Sodhi spoke highly of Warne owing to the impact of a veteran cricketer.

“He’s the greatest legspinner the game has seen. I am trying to pick his brains as much as I can. I think it’s balancing that with what I want to do with my own bowling — whether it is this tournament or improving myself in the future. I just need to keep getting better. Rubbing shoulders with Shane Warne is always going to be great!” Sodhi said during the presenstation.
