Irfan Pathan conducts a Q&A session, asks the reason behind the rise of Indian cricket

Former India international Irfan  Pathan recently conducted a Q&A session on social media site. He asked opinions of cricket lovers on who is responsible for the rise of Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, Indian cricket has witnessed an upward graph in the recent years. Further, they are currently the top-ranked Test and ODI team in the world.

Especially, Virat Kohli & Co scripted history in the Rainbow Nation beating the host 5-1 in the ODI series. They became the first team to win a bilateral series in South Africa. Currently, they are 1-0 up in the three-match T20I series.

The 33-year-old Pathan took to Twitter to ask the reason behind the rise of Indian cricket. He placed the question to all the cricket lovers following his Twitter handle.

Question for all the lovers of Indian cricket. What is the reason behind the rise of Indian cricket?,” Pathan asked.

Fans gave their answer:

Many cricket lovers came up with their views but mostly it revolved around three names among the fans. Fans credited former captains Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and current skipper Virat Kohli for the rise.

Meanwhile, under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won three ICC tournaments, namely  ICC World T20 2007, ICC World Cup 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Dhoni led India in 199 ODIs while India won on 110 occasions.

However, Sourav Ganguly led India in 147 fifty-overs matches. To which, India registered 76 victories. Ganguly took the Indian team to the finals of 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup. However, they lost to Australia in the finals

Further, under Virat Kohli’s leadership, India has won 38 out of 49 ODIs.
