The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan predicted the Virat Kohli-led side to beat the Australian team in the upcoming three-match ODI series in India. He believes that India edges over Australia in terms of talent and confidence.
The Indian National Cricket Team had a fine run in the recent past. They became one of the giants in this game, especially under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Much to the same, Australia also started dominating the opposition, after the return of David Warner and Steve Smith.
India is a notch ahead of Australia in terms of talent – Irfan Pathan
Speaking of the same, Irfan Pathan stated that Indians are just ahead of Australia in terms of ability and confidence. He believes that pitches will make a massive impact on the series result. Irfan Pathan added that the current Indian cricket team is displaying top-notch skills in the middle, which will make them favourites to win the series.

“In the past, that wasn’t the case because they were doing really well. We were trying to match that level. I feel that Indian cricket is a notch ahead in terms of talent, in terms of cricket and in terms of confidence,” Star Sports expert Irfan Pathan said.
“The only thing that will make it equal is the kind of pitches we are going to play in Australia because we do not have experience playing on those hard and bouncy pitches,” said Pathan, who recently called time on his international career.
It all started in Australia for me –
Further, the recently-retired Irfan Pathan recalled the days of playing in Australia. He stated that it was in Australia, where everything fell in place for him. He was adjudged as the man of the match in India’s victory against Australia, which came after 21 years.

“It all started in Australia for me. The most memorable moment was getting my first wicket and helping India win a Test match in Australia after 21 years. Winning the Test in Perth and being named the Man of the Match is also a favourite memory for me,” Irfan Pathan said.
The 3-match ODI series between India and Australia starts on January 14th in Mumbai. Currently, India are busy with the bilateral series against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Australia are relishing the victory against New Zealand.
