Out of favour India all-rounder, Irfan Pathan during the launch of a cricket academy in the country spoke about the concept of the Indian pace bowling all-rounders.

The all-rounder had a brief interaction with Sportskeeda in Bangalore. Irfan was present in the city to inaugurate the Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP). The all-rounder also mentioned about the facilities in his academy. The younger Pathan also recalled about the hand of former India coach Greg Chappell that will certainly be given as an example to aspiring cricketers.

He took time out to advise the young boys on how to approach the game during the launch of the academy. Pathan also encouraged them while they batted and bowled in the nets. Irfan who hails from Baroda, the hometown of Hardik Pandya also spoke on Pandya’s developments. Pathan stressed about factors which should be considered in the near future.

He also took out his time to speak about Hardik Pandya who also hails from Baroda and discussed the factors that will have to be considered in the near future.

It’s not easy to be a pace bowling allrounder says Irfan

When asked him what scope does he see for the pace bowling all-rounders in the future, as pace bowling all-rounders have struggled in the past, Pathan said,

“Firstly, it is not easy being a pace bowling all-rounder, especially after looking at someone like Kapil Dev. I find it really surprising when someone is compared to him because finding an all-rounder like him is not possible. But what we can do in India is nurture upcoming all-rounders. While we don’t have too many pace bowling all-rounders, we have a lot of options in terms of spin bowling all-rounders.”

When asked where does he see Hardik Pandya five years down the line, Pandya said,

“Where he finds himself in the future will depend on his attitude, how he handles himself and his fitness. These are the things that will take him forward in the future and help him reach where he wants to. The good thing to notice is the support that he has been getting from the team management, which is very important because for any player to be groomed, he needs full support from the staff, something which Pandya has been getting.”
