The way things have turned out in recent past, it looked very likely that all is not well between India skipper Virat Kohli and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Things started to unravel when Kohli seemingly began loosing trust in Ashwin. The off-spinner lost his place in the limited-overs format and is now more an automatic choice in Test team too.

Things further escalated when the two could not control their emotions when their teams came across in the Indian Premier League this year. After Ashwin was caught by Kohli during a close game, he was seen throwing his gloves in anger while the latter celebrated the dismissal animatedly. The incident was widely criticised as the fans struggled to come to terms with it.

Following the game, Ashwin tried to explain the matter but his crisp and short statement made it crystal clear that not all is well between the two.

“I just played with passion, so does he (Virat). That’s it. As simple as that,” Ashwin had said.

And when Kohli dropped Ashwin for the just-concluded first Test against West Indies, the fans feared the worst. The reason for those apprehensions were very much clear. Ashwin is one of the greatest match-winners for India in Tests. No Indian players has won more Man of the Series awards than Ashwin.

Moreover, Ashwin also has a stunning record against West Indies. The last time India visited West Indies for a Test series, Ashwin was the man of the series. The Tamil Nadu ace had finished the series as the highest wicket-taker in addition to scoring two tons. But all those counted for little as Ashwin was benched for the series-opener.

Unsurprisingly, the fans thought that not all is well between Ashwin and Kohli. Well, Ashwin’s latest tweet might give rest to those speculations. The India star took to Twitter to post a group photo along with Kohli, Anushka Sharma, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal with the caption:

“Seaside plus sunset is a deadly combination?”
