IPL franchise Mumbai Indians’ (MI) wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan has opened up on what was it like meeting Sachin Tendulkar in person for the first time. Sachin has been one of the greatest finds of cricket. He has scored more than 34000 international runs for India across all formats.

The legendary Tendulkar has set and broken almost all the records that there are in the game of cricket. What stands out is his consistency over the years as he represented India for 24 years and scored a total of 100 international centuries.

As with any bright young Indian cricketer, an IPL contract happened for Ishan Kishan who first represented the now-defunct Gujarat Lions franchise before being picked up by Mumbai Indians. Among the several IPL memories, Kishan singles out the most riveting moment from his experiences.

“I still remember the time when I first met Sachin paaji (Tendulkar). He had come to see our practise session at Mumbai Indians. It was just after I got signed. I had been chatting with Rohit bhai (Sharma) and told him about how I worshipped Sachin paaji all these years and now, suddenly he is in front of me,” Ishan Kishan narrated.

“Rohit bhai told me to go and have a chat. Fortunately, Sachin paaji himself came towards me to have a talk. I don’t think I heard anything that he spoke, I was just watching him speak.” laughs Ishan Kishan reliving his fan-boy moment.

Dark Clouds Looms Large Over IPL 2020 Future

IPL 2020 was scheduled to start from March 29, but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCCI postponed it until April 15. As the nationwide lockdown extended in India, BCCI suspended IPL 2020 Indefinitely. Now, with the situation worsening, it seems a huge possibility that IPL stands nothing but cancelled this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now looking at the October-November window for the IPL. But the move can be possible only if the ICC decides to postpone the 2020 T20 World Cup that is to be held in October, this year, according to some sources in the board.

On April 10, latest reports suggested that the BCCI is probing into the July window to conduct the IPL and it could take place behind closed doors. However, all hopes have once again vanished as the BCCI has suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
