Australia’s head coach Justin Langer said that it was a tough series for them against India, which they lost by 2-1. The hosts also had to face the criticism of the media and Langer felt the team was like a punching bag. India was able to tick the right boxes and they were able to come up with a collective performance.

India was strong on paper as well as on the field in the four-match series. On the other hand, Australia lacked the experience in their batting unit and could not come up with a complete performance. In fact, there was not a single hundred from the Australian team as the batsmen failed to capitalize on the good start.

Australia will like to turn the tables.

Talking to Sony Entertainment Network after the Test series, Langer looked back and shared his thoughts on the bygone series. “We got beaten in Melbourne on Boxing Day, we drew the last Test in Sydney and India were a really tough opponent, but I’m sure in 10 years I’m going to look back and say, ‘geez that was a tough time but I’m better for it,” Langer said.

Furthermore, Langer felt that team was like a boxing punching bag in the Test series where they had to face the aftermath of the media. The hosts could not come up with consistent performances except the second Test match at Perth, which they won by 146 runs.

Australia had to face criticism from the media.

“I look back now at Sydney and Melbourne (and) without sounding like a sook, we felt like punching bags through a lot of criticism in the media,” he added.

Australia has lacked experience in their batting unit and they have clearly missed the services of Steven Smith and David Warner. Meanwhile, Australia will like to turn the tables in the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The first Test match will take place at the Gabba from January 24 which will be a day-night affair.

Here is Australia’s squad:
