Royal Challengers Bangalore star AB de Villiers didn’t hide his disappointment after his team’s heavy loss to SunRisers Hyderabad on Saturday. The loss was the third straight one for RCB in the ongoing season and has suddenly put them in a spot of bother.

Just around a couple of weeks ago, RCB were looking destined to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 with utmost ease after winning seven of their first ten games. However, three back-to-back defeats have made things complex for them.

RCB still have fate in their hands, a win on Monday against Delhi Capitals in their final group game will be enough for them to go ahead. However, another defeat could leave them needing favours from other teams to progress.

‘It’s a terrible feeling’:

Speaking after the five-wicket loss to SRH, AB de Villiers said ‘it’s a terrible feeling’ to lose three games in a row. He was also quick to put his focus on the next game against Delhi, saying that RCB need to come up with their best cricket against them.

“It’s a terrible feeling to lose three in a row, you never want to do that,” AB de Villiers said.

“But that’s the nature of this tournament, anything can happen: if you lose three in a row, you can win three in a row as well. The Delhi game is a big game we all know that. We’re going to have to come out with our best cricket on the day. If we do, things will look up very well for us,” he added.

AB de Villiers further credited SRH for their blemish free effort on the field that gave RCB top-order a tough time. RCB never really managed to get the impetus during batting and eventually ended their innings on a modest total of 120 for 7. In reply, SRH chased it down inside 15 overs by losing five wickets.

“I thought we did everything we could do out there,” he said. “They bowled very well. They got a couple to sneak a few through bat and pad, a couple of good catches. They didn’t make a lot of mistakes. Maybe we could have played better, I would never shy away from saying that. But they put a lot of pressure on us tonight,” he added.
