Australia all-rounder Cameron Green, who is on his Test debut, has enjoyed a pretty good day so far. Cameron Green got his maiden Baggy Green cap from Australia’s pace spearhead, Pat Cummins, earlier in the day as Justin Langer already confirmed he would play, provided he is fit. The batting all-rounder, who became the 458th Test cricketer for Australia, said he is having fun out there at the Adelaide Oval against India.

Cameron Green has impressed in Australia’s first-class circuit so far, accumulating runs as well as picking up wickets, making a strong case to be a Test cricketer. The 22-year old also impressed in the first warm-up match against India, scoring a century under challenging circumstances as the hosts managed to draw the fixture. However, Green copped a blow on his head while bowling when Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah hit a straight drive.

As a result, he threatened to miss out on the opening Test; however, he managed to recover in time and be fit for the game. In the ongoing match, Green has supported the fast bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins by chipping in with nine overs and giving away only 15 runs, earning two maidens too.

Cameron Green, who spoke to Adam Gilchrist during the drinks break, said that it’s fun being out here and admitted that even though the rhythm took a while to pick up, it felt like a regular game once he got into the groove. The youngster revealed that head coach Justin Langer was glad with their efforts and hoped for the rewards to come along when Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were batting. Incidentally, Australia got the wickets of both the batsmen shortly afterwards.

It’s been good fun, all the guys have been awesome. The crowds have been up and down all day so it’s been a lot of fun out here. It feels good, rhythm took a couple of overs to get and when I got it right, it all felt like a normal game. I think we won the first two sessions. I think JL was pretty happy with our efforts and hope we get our rewards in the next two hours. It hasn’t happened yet but we know how to go about it,” Green told Gilchrist.
