Making his debut in the 2007/08 season, the all-rounder has been a regular performer over the years in first-class cricket, accumulating runs and wickets for the team season by season. However, he is yet to make his debut for the Indian National Cricket Team. Meanwhile, in the Duleep Trophy game, he registered a rare record to his name.

I feel honoured to be in that list – Jalaj Saxena

Jalaj Saxena entered an elite club of all-rounders, completing 6000 runs and 300 wickets in first-class cricket. The all-rounder who is appearing for Kerala in domestic cricket achieved the feat while turning out for India Blue in the Duleep Trophy.

The 32-year-old Saxena is the 19th player in the list of all-rounders but he is the only uncapped player to achieve the record. It is unfortunate that he is still playing domestic cricket despite having such an incredible numbers’ tally in his kitty.

CK Nayudu, Lala Amarnath, Vijay Hazare, Vinu Mankad, C Sarwate, Polly Umrigar, Babu Nadkarni, Chandu Borde, ML Jaisimha, Saleem Durani, S Venkataraghavan, Syed Abid Ali, Madan Lal, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Manoj Prabhakar, Sairaj Bahutule and Sanjay Bangar are the other cricketers to do so.

Jalaj Saxena, who is the winner of the best allrounder award multiple times in Indian domestic cricket, has been part of two IPL franchises – Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore – but has never played an IPL match.
