James Pattinson Fires Warning To India Ahead Of Next Year's Blockbuster Series

James Pattinson made a stunning comeback in Tests, helping Australia thrash New Zealand by 247 runs in the Boxing Day Test. With the win, Australia also took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. the right-arm pacer played a big role in the win as he ran through New Zealand’s batting lineup in both the innings.

He took the all-important wicket of Kane Williamson in the first innings and thought he had removed Ross Taylor too, only for DRS to disappoint him. He also got rid of BJ Watling with a brilliant delivery. In the second innings of the game, James Pattinson accounted for all three of New Zealand’s best as he dismissed Tom Latham, Williamson and Taylor to finish the game with six wickets.

Warning for India:

With Australia set to host India next year in a blockbuster series, James Pattinson has fired a timely warning for the world number one Test side. The pacer, who played his first Test at home in nearly four years, said that he would be at his best when India visit Australia next year.

“I reckon I’m still a year away from being at my best and trusting my body and being able to charge in to be at my best,” Pattinson told cricket.com.au.

“It’s a work in progress – I’m still 29, so I’ve got plenty of time. Hopefully at this time next year I’ll be at my best,” he added.

James Pattinson was a part of the Australian team that whitewashed India 4-0 during the Test series in 2011-12. He had played two games in the series and had picked up an impressive 11 wickets as he troubled India’s formidable lineup with his pace. A lot will be at stake when both the rivals lock horns next year as Australia will be desperate to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after losing a Test series to India for the first time at home last season.
