Jason Holder Reveals Ben Stokes Adrenaline Rush Motivates Him To Do Better

Jason Holder, West Indies captain and the No.1 ranked Test all-rounder in the world, opened up about his ‘rivalry’ with England all-rounder Ben Stokes in the aftermath of his sides’ four-wicket win against England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
And, the rivalry certainly lived up to everyone’s expectations. While Stokes claimed six wickets (including Jason Holder) and scored 89 runs across two innings, Jason Holder achieved his career-best figures of 6-42 in the first innings besides claiming Stokes on both occasions.

Commenting on his rivalry, Jason Holder said that he does not dwell too much on his personal rivalry with Ben Stokes. The fast bowling all-rounder said that he has total respect for Stokes and his adrenaline rush is something that motivates him to do better.
“I thoroughly respect him. That gives me the adrenaline rush, you know to know ‘that guy is putting in so much’. That guy has won so much for his team. You just want to throw at him and not let him get it,” Jason Holder said.
”Similarly, I guess when I come to bat, he feels the same way. I don’t get too caught up with individual rivalry. At the end of the day, it’s a team sport. We all have got roles to play, if we do that, we will all be happy.” he added.
Ben Stokes too heaped praise on his counterpart, hailing Holder as someone who gives his all on a cricket field.
“It’s cricket man. When he comes to bat, I guess it’s ironic that when he comes to bat, I guess I am going to bowl. When I come to bat, he gets to bowl. I expect nothing less from Stokes. He is a competitor. He is one of those guys who plays cricket with everything he has got, he gives it his all,” Ben Stokes said.
