Jasprit Bumrah Breaks Massive Record With His Spectacular Show Against West Indies

Ever since making his Test debut in 2018 against South Africa, Jasprit Bumrah has been a star performer and has led the fast bowling attack. He was outstanding in the recently concluded series against West Indies. With his impeccable show in the two-match series, Bumrah scaled massive record in Test cricket.

The cricketer from Gujarat took a break in the limited-overs series against West Indies. The young fast bowler played continuous cricket since the IPL and selectors took the right call giving him a break. He made an instant impact on arrival during the first Test in Antigua. He claimed a fifer in the second innings to script India’s victory.

Jasprit Bumrah backed it up with another six wickets in the next match including a hat-trick. Jasprit Bumrah became the third India after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to claim a Test hat-trick. Bumrah, eventually, returned with 13 wickets including two five-wicket hauls.

Currently, Bumrah has claimed 62 wickets from 12 Tests at an average of 19.24. He is the second Indian after Ravichandran Ashwin to have more scalps after 12 matches. The off-spinner has 63 wickets to his name, one more than that of Jasprit Bumrah. The young pacer leapfrogged Anil Kumble who has 61 wickets from the same number of games.

He is also the second alongside Waqar Younis in the list of most wickets after 12 matches among fast bowler. Only West Indies’ legend Gary Sobers (68) has more wickets than Jasprit Bumrah after 12 Tests. He has left behind Alland Donald (56), Dennis Lillee (55), Jeff Thomson (53), Curtly Ambrose (51), Dale Steyn (49), Michael Holding (43), Richard Hadlee (42), Wasim Akram (40), Glenn McGrath (40), Bob Willis (37), James Anderson (35) and Malcolm Marshall (34).

Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently the third-ranked Test bowler will be keen to attain more success in the India jersey.
