Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has become of the best bowlers in the world in all three formats just 6 years after his white-ball debut for India in 2016 against Australia. He then made his Test debut in 2018 against South Africa and hasn’t looked back since then.

Not only this, but the Gujarat-based pacer has become part of the leadership group of the Indian team, which led to him becoming the Test vice-captain to Rohit Sharma for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, due to injury to KL Rahul.

Talking about his role as the vice captain, Bumrah said in a virtual press conference: “I don’t look at it as a particular position, like a spinner or a fast bowler, or that batter is a leader. As a senior member of the team you have to help the players in whatever capacity you can. As I have spoken earlier For me it is just a post. Yes, it is a great opportunity that has presented itself, and I am very happy to do that.”

Jasprit Bumrah Reveals Why He No Longer Celebrates His Wickets

Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah is not known as someone who celebrates aggressively after taking a wicket. His most infamous way of celebration is just staring at the batter after getting him out. Something that was on show during the South Africa Test series in January.

During the virtual press meet ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, Bumrah was asked why he doesn’t smile and do a proper celebration after taking a wicket and the pacer revealed the secret behind the same.

Bumrah said, “Jab main chhota tha main bahut celebration karta tha, overexcited hota tha aur main actually plan bhi karta tha apne celebrations (When I was young, I used to celebrate a lot. I used to get overexcited and actually plan my celebration).”

“So I try to focus on the job at hand and yes, when the game is over and the team has won then there’s ample time to celebrate. So till the time my job is not done, my focus is on making the team win,” Bumrah further said mentioning that while playing serious cricket you forget your personal celebration because the main aim is doing well for the team.
