Former Australian paceman Jason Gillespie has heaped praises on Jasprit Bumrah. With India and Australia gearing itself to take on one another across three formats, there would be a set of fast bowlers from both sides, looking to make a point. Jasprit Bumrah, who is coming off a successful IPL campaign with the Mumbai Indians, would be amongst those and has to play a starring role if his side is to emerge victorious in at least two of three formats. Amongst all, Bumrah has impressed Jason Gillespite the most.

Jasprit Bumrah is a part of the pace attack that includes players like Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj that have made it to the Australian tour across three squads. Bumrah, in particular, has taken rapid strides in establishing himself as India’s spearhead across formats, capable of bowling with the new ball and in death. He has 131 international wickets so far since his debut in 2016.

Jason Gillespie underlined that India’s fast-bowling attack has developed into one of the best today and all operate differently. Without disrespecting their previous bowling attack, Gillespie said the same and mainly backed Jasprit Bumrah to go down as one of the country’s greatest cricketers. The Sussex coach believes that the lanky pacer will be a superstar when his career comes to a close.

They all bring their different ways of doing it (bowling fast). I think the Indian pace attack now is as good as they’ve had in a long time. That’s no disrespect to the guys who came before them. But they are a fine bunch now. (Jasprit) Bumrah is going to be a superstar once his career finishes. He will go down as one of India’s greatest in all three forms of the game. There’s no doubt about that,” Jason Gillespie stated as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The South Australian pointed out that Mohammed Shami has been equally good as is Ishant Sharma, who Gillespie reckons suffers from plenty of injuries but has shown resilience. The 45-year old hopes for seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar to recover from his injury and added that Umesh Yadav is yet another potent speedster in India’s ranks.

(Mohammed) Shami has been excellent. Ishant Sharma has shown what an adaptable player he is. He has had a few ups and downs but has shown real resilience. He is always trying to better himself. India should be proud of how he has stuck to his task and found ways to reinvent himself. And then you’ve got other guys like Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvi is injured at the moment. Hopefully, he will be fit soon. Umesh Yadav has added a yard of pace, hasn’t he,” he added.
