There is little denying the fact that Jasprit Bumrah will be very, very crucial to India’s fortunes in the upcoming World Cup. The tournament is set to be a high-scoring one and thus bowlers’ role will be huge in restricting the opposition. India will be relying heavily on Bumrah who is widely considered as the best bowler in the world right now especially in death overs.

Bumrah recently showcased his worth by bowling a superb spell in the Indian Premier League final. He picked up 2 wickets while conceding just 14 runs in his four overs, helping Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by just one run in a thrilling final. Unsurprisingly, all eyes will be on Bumrah when India takes the field in the World cup.

And ahead of the tournament, Bumrah has showed he is not good on the field only but also off it. On Sunday, the right-arm pacer took to Twitter to post a photo of his workout from gym. He, however, took a dig at an IIT professor who recently tried to decode the reason behind Bumrah’s success.

The professor explained how Bumrah’s speed, seam position and rotational speed of 1,000 RPM gives only 0.1 spin ratio for the ball hence putting it into reverse Magnus effect regime.

“A downward force on a ball by Bumrah causes it to dip sharply, which batsmen find difficult to pick,” the professor was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Bumrah, however, seems to be unimpressed by the research as he tweeted:

“Nothing can replace hardwork (not even reverse magnum force)..??”

India, meanwhile, are one of the strong favourites for the World Cup. The twelfth edition of the competition will start on May 30 with hosts England taking on South Africa. India, on the other hand, will start their campaign on June 5 against South Africa. Before the main event, India will also play two warm-up games.
