Jasprit Bumrah To Not Return Until Next Year, Set To Miss Bangladesh Series

So far, it has been a special year for Jasprit Bumrah but unfortunately, it is not going to be the same for the fast bowler. After ruling charts across the formats, he picked up an injury, which has become a thorn to his glittering career. In the latest update, it is learnt that Bumrah will not be available for India in the ongoing year.

It doesn’t matter how the conditions are, Jasprit Bumrah always makes life hard for the batsman. He is an all-format player, who can deliver goods on a consistent basis. However, the injury to his lower back isn’t letting the team management sleep in peace, especially, with major series and tournaments in the lineup.

The 25-year-old, who was diagnosed with a minor stress fracture in his lower back in September, is presently enduring a rehabilitation process. It also includes visits to the National Cricket Academy and is being monitored by the BCCI’s medical team. In all probability, he will be back in India colours only by January.

“His rehabi­li­tation is going along expected lines. Stress fractures are complicated to deal with. However, since, it was spotted on time and Bu­mrah got adequate rest, th­ere is nothing serious. The Ba­ng­l­a­d­e­sh Tests are still a month away. Hopefully, he will be fit by then. But there are important assignments next year. The idea is to make it smooth for Bumrah. When he is back, he should be at his absolute best,” sources tracking developments said.

Jasprit Bumrah has been phenomenal in recent times and was more than impressive in the Test series against West Indies. Bumrah was India’s wrecker-in-chief as he picked 13 wickets at an average of just 9.23 in the recently concluded 2-match Test series.

He has featured in 12 Test matches so far, in which he has scalped 62 wickets at an average of 19.24, thus becoming the linchpin of the Indian bowling unit. Jasprit Bumrah has risen up the ranks at a rapid pace in the longest format and reiterated his position as a top bowler in the world.

Bumrah will be brought back only for the three-match ODI series against Australia slated to begin on January 14. In between, it will be a perfect chance for the youngsters to impress selectors.
