Jasprit Bumrah's Grandfather's Dead Body Pulled Out of Sabarmati River

Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah’s Grandfather Santok Singh Bumrah’s dead body was found in Sabarmati River between Gandhi Bridge and Dadhichi Bridge and was pulled out by the Ahmadabad Fire and Emergency Services on Sunday. However, the exact detail of the death is still a mystery. Santok, aged 84 had gone to Ahmadabad to meet Jasprit has been missing since Friday, and the family members had filed a missing complaint with the Vastrapur police.

According to reports, the cricketer’s family had refused to meet or talk to the deceased. According to a report by Ahmadabad Mirror, Singh had come to his daughter’s place at Sonal Apartments in Vastrapur on December 1. The filed complaint stated:

“He expressed a wish to meet his grandson on his birthday on December 5. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to meet Jasprit. On December 8, Santokh called his son Balvinder Singh, who lives in Jharkhand, and told him that he was leaving to meet his deceased wife.”

Santokh Singh who drove auto rickshaw in Kiccha village once had a well established business but after the death of Jasprit’s father the business faced a downfall. According to police,

“However, after the death of Jasprit’s dad, the businesses allegedly went downhill and Santokh sold off the business and settled in Uttarakhand.” 

Santokh’s daughter Rajinder told Ahmadabad Mirror:

“When we went to meet Jasprit’s mother Daljit Kaur at a city school where she is a teacher, she refused to allow my father any contact with Jasprit. She even refused to share her son’s phone number so that father could talk to him. My father was grief-stricken by this. He left home on Friday afternoon and never returned.”

Vastrapur Police Inspector Manoharsinh Jadeja said:

“We have filed a missing person’s report and have started looking for Santokh. We are trying to trace his cellphone and track him through the call details.”

However, Japrit’s mother Daljit Kaur refused to talk on the matter, she said:

“I do not wish to talk on this matter.” 

Bumrah is currently playing in the first ODI in Dharamsala against Sri Lanka.
