Jemimah Rodrigues Brilliantly Shuts Down A Fan Who Questioned Her Nationality

The social media has brought the fans closer to their beloved cricketers more than ever. Unlike in the past, the fans now remain well updated about the private lives of the players. The players also make sure to keep their fans updated about their lives. The players and the fans also interact on the social media every now and then.

But then again, every coin has two side and social media is no different. While the social media has bridged the gap between the two parties, some have also used the same platform for wrong reasons. Time and again, one has seen fans trolling or targetting players. Recently, a fan criticised Indian women team’s star Mithali Raj for her language preference before being given a fitting reply by the player.

And Mithali’s teammate Jemimah Rodrigues recently faced something similar although this time around, the fan was not critical. However, the fan did doubt the nationality of the youngster. It all started when Jemimah Rodrigues started a question-answer session on Twitter. One of the fans then asked her whether she is completely Indian and even had the audacity to ask the cricketer to explain her surname.

The tweet was noticed by Jemimah Rodrigues and she made sure to reply to it in a brilliant manner, writing:

Jemimah Rodrigues, meanwhile, has not looked back since earning her maiden international call up last year. Rodrigues had earned the call after a prolific domestic season in which she scored 1013 runs at an average of 112.56 in the inter-state Under-19 tournament, including an unbeaten 202. She had also picked up 19 wickets with her offspin.

Rodrigues is now one of the most important members of the Indian team. Last year, she was instrumental in India’s march to the semifinal of the World T20 in the Caribbeans. Earlier this year, she also helped India win an ODI series in New Zealand.
