Jimmy Neesham And Ravichandran Ashwin Involved In Twitter Banter During Brisbane T20I

Ravichandran Ashwin and Jimmy Neesham exchanged some funny tweets during the recently-concluded first T20I between India and Australia.

Rain threatened to play spoilsport when fans around the globe were glued to their television sets while Australia and India were fighting it out in Brisbane.  Asked to bat first, Australia were 158 for 4 when rain arrived.

New Zealand allrounder Jimmy Neesham must have switched his television set on later as he was confused after not seeing the telecast game. Curious to know the reason, he took to Twitter to post why the broadcasters were showing rugby and not cricket.

“Can someone please explain to me why the #AUSvIND T20 has turned into rugby on @SKYNZ ???,” wrote Jimmy Neesham.

As expected, Neesham’s followers were quick to clear his confusion. And one of them was none other than India spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin.

The off-spinner replied to Neesham’s query by writing:

“Cos it’s raining mate.”

This is when Neesham decided to take the exchange of tweets to a new level. In reply to Ravichandran Ashwin’s answer, he wrote:

“Raining sixes? ??”

Ravichandran Ashwin, however, had a better comeback as he tweeted:

“?.. We will bat soon enough ?”

Jimmy Neesham then ended the exchange by predicting that the game was probably over since India skipper Virat Kohli was set to bat to bat in the second innings.

“Virat is batting second so it’s probably game over anyway ?”

Well, Neesham’s prediction did not turn out to be correct as Australia beat India by 4 runs in a thriller to take the lead in the three-match series. Chasing a revised total of 174 in 17 overs, India managed to post 169. Virat Kohli also failed to get going, scoring just 4.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
