New Zealand allrounder Jimmy Neesham will be one of the biggest attractions in the upcoming auction for the next edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2020. Given his exploits this year, the franchises would love to have him. The much-awaited auction will take place on 19th of this month in Kolkata. As many as 971 players have thrown their hat in the ring. A total of 713 Indian and 258 overseas players will be in contention for just the 73 vacant spots across the eight teams.

This big list of players will get pruned before it goes under the hammer at the auction. The franchises had to submit their shortlist from the pool of registered players before the 5 PM IST deadline on December 9. All eyes are now on the auction as the players will learn their fate. Along with Jimmy Neesham, 23 other players from New Zealand had thrown their hats in the ring too.

Neesham interested in playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Jimmy Neesham, meanwhile, recently dropped a hint that he would like to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad. A few days ago too, he had said that he would love to play for the franchise since it is captained by his New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. And ahead of the auction, Neesham dropped another hint about his desire to don the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey.

It all started when a fan cheekily asked Neesham:

“Kane is the captain of Hyderabad. And, they don’t have a middle-order LH batsman who can hit sixes. So,…”

In reply, Neesham came up with another trademark reply of his as posted a GIF, tweeting:

Meanwhile, Jimmy Neesham has not played in the IPL since 2014. Neesham was picked by Delhi Capitals in 2014 and played four games that season. In the following year, Kolkata Knight Riders secured his services but he did not play a single match for them due to injury and was dropped from the squad the very next season.
