With the cricket world busy discussing about the recent Mankad incident in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup, New Zealand ace Jimmy Neesham has also given his opinion on it. Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad on Friday affected the Mankad dismissal to send back Pakistan opener Mohammad Huraira in the fourth quarterfinal match of the tournament.

In the 28th over of Pakistan’s innings, the spinner ran out U19 debutant Huraira at the non-striker end, sparkling the settled debates regarding the mode of dismissal which is widely regarded as against the spirit of the game despite being within the rules.

As it has been the case in the past whenever a player has been ‘mankaded’, the laws of the cricket find themselves at the crossroads with spirit of cricket.  The incident has once again divided the cricket world in two halves. While one half is supporting the bowler, the other is criticising him for the same.

And Jimmy Neesham is probably in the second half as the New Zealand star stated that he would never Mankad a batsman before giving him a warning. He also said that he would Mankad a batsman only if he tries to steal a ‘ridiculous advantage’. Jimmy Neesham expressed his opinion while replying to a tweet from one of his followers who asked him whether he would ever Mankad someone on the field.

“The only way I could see myself doing it is if I’ve already warned him and he continues to steal a ridiculous advantage, like 2 meters,” wrote Jimmy Neesham.

Meanwhile, the likes of James Anderson, Dale Styen, Umar Gul and several other big names from cricket have given their opinion on the Mankad once again and going by their responses, one can say that they don’t endorse this dismissal.
