Jofra Archer faced racial abuse after missing out on the second Test for breaching the bio-secure protocol. West Indies legend Michael Holding believes Archer should focus on becoming a great fast bowler and not on the outside world. Archer, who looked in good touch in the second innings of the Southampton Test, was barred from playing the second Test at Old Trafford after breaching code of conduct in a bio-secure environment.

A spokesperson from the English board had said that Jofra Archer breached the code of conduct while travelling between the Ageas Bowl and Emirates Old Trafford as he stopped on the way to his flat at Brighton. He, however, apologised later for his mistake. However, he subsequently had to face a lot of racial abuse on social media.

“To be honest, I don’t think it should be that difficult. The environment in which he is, he’s in a team that has just won the last Test match,” Holding said on ‘Sky Sports’.

“He’s amongst friends in the England team; he has Ben Stokes, who he is very close to, who is a personable person and also a positive person.

“So he should just make sure that he gets involved with the team, forgets about all the outside noise and just do what he can do. He is potentially a great bowler so he should just concentrate on that,” Holding added.

Archer is currently playing in the third Test against the West Indies.
