Jonty Rhodes is arguably the finest fielder the game has ever seen. While he was a reliable middle-order batsman, there is little denying the fact that he is known more for his fielding rather than scoring over 8,000 international runs. His legacy began with the diving run-out of Inzamam-ul-Haq during the 1992 World Cup and with the passage of time, he kept enhancing his reputation as the best fielder in the game.

Having retired from the game now, Jonty Rhodes must be delighted with the way the teams have started giving importance to fielding now. Unlike the time when Jonty Rhodes was still a player, all the teams have understood the importance of fielding and the result has been spectacular. The fielding level in the game has increased by leaps and bounds.

No surprises then that when Jonty Rhodes was recently asked to name his favourite fielder in the world, he could not come up with just one name but instead revealed five names. The legendary South African was interacting with his followers on Twitter when he was asked by one of them to name his favourite fielder.

In reply, the former South Africa cricketer came up with as many as seven names including two Indians. He named Herschelle Gibbs, Ricky Ponting, AB de Villiers, Suresh Raina, Martin Guptill, Kieron Pollard and Ravindra Jadeja as some of his favourite fielders.

Meanwhile, Jonty Rhodes will soon arrive in India for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been roped in by Kings XI Punjab as their fielding coach. Previously, he had worked with Mumbai Indians for nine years before parting ways in 2017.
