Cricket Australia is mulling to host India for the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a single stadium. Hosting the entire Test series is not an ideal call, although it might save the board, with the travelling and fleet expense up to some extent once the season resumes after the novel coronavirus pandemic situation settles.

The India vs Australia series also has much importance as it might help the hosting board withstand the loss. The broadcast revenue will also be generated from the much-anticipated tournament.

Josh Hazlewood: Adelaide Oval will probably be the best option

Australian quick Josh Hazlewood feels the Adelaide Oval will be an ideal option if the entire series has to be contested on a single venue. He suggested so, because he reckons, it will be a friendly surface for both bowlers and batsmen. Hazlewood, however, said he would like to play the series across different wickets in various parts of the country if situation allows.

“The bowlers and batters would probably be happy with that, it’s (Adelaide Oval) probably been the best cricket wicket the last four or five years,” Hazlewood was quoted as saying by the Australian media.

“It gives a bit to both batting and bowling, I wouldn’t mind it. It’s not ideal though. We want to get around to all parts of Australia and challenge ourselves on all those different wickets.”

Australia and India have been fierce rivalries. After the traditional Ashes against England, the Test series between Australia and India, holds a major significance. It also pulls major crowd from both the countries as two of the best cricketing nation in history, traditionally crosswords for a four-Test series.

India beat Australia Down Under the last time both the sides faced-off. It was the first Test series win on the Australian soil India and captain Virat Kohli as well.
