Despite Pakistan’s see-saw performance in both Tests and ODIs of late, Sarfraz Ahmed thinks the T20I series win over Australia is massive, both for records and morally. Meanwhile, Pakistan won the Tests against the Aussies 1-0 in the UAE.

The journey has been beautiful, claims Sarfraz

However, Pakistan, under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed had won their tenth T20I series. Though he took the responsibility of captaining the Men in Green two years ago, Sarfraz said it had been a beautiful yet a tough journey so far.

Meanwhile, Pakistan beat Australia by 11 runs in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Now, they will be keen to put to the finishing touches to by winning it 3-0 in the dead rubber match on October 28 (Sunday).

“The journey over the two years has been excellent but it was also tough,” Sarfraz said.

Moreover, Sarfraz Ahmed is happy with the series win against top teams. He especially thanked the team management along with the players and also the selection committee.

However, there were no experienced players in the team apart from veteran Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez when Sarfraz became the skipper of Pakistan. Furthermore, the young players had given all their efforts, and Sarfraz Ahmed will look to continue in the same way.

“I don’t think there has been any T20 series that has been easy. All the series that we have played, we have played against the top teams and I think we should get the credit for that. The way our team management, the players and also the selection committee have all contributed to this success. And when I became captain, Shoaib bhai (Malik) was there and so was (Mohammad) Hafeez bhai. These are the two senior players in our side and the rest of them are all new players. And they have performed well until now. We have to back these players,” he added.

Moreover, the 31 years old praised Fakhar Zaman who pulled off an incredible acrobatic effort to run out Ben McDermott. He compares Zaman with the likes of fielding legend Jonty Rhodes.

“The way Fakhar Zaman effected that run out, perhaps even Jonty Rhodes wouldn’t have done that,” Sarfraz Ahmed concluded.

Now, Sarfraz Ahmed and co. will try to put up the same show in the final and last match of the series. They will also try to keep the form with them for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
