The inaugural season of Ice cricket featuring some of the greatest names of the cricketing fraternity kicked off on Thursday (February 8) at St Moritz in Switzerland. In a first of its kind, cricket is being played on a frozen lake instead of the lush green outfield. It was not ideal condition for cricket but the former stars entertained themselves by taking part in the exciting contest

From the very first ball, it seemed that the players were finding it pretty difficult to get adjust to the conditions with temperature plummeted to -7C.

There is no doubt about the fact that those were not the conditions ideal for the match but it was entertainment at its very best.

The picturesque scene in Switzerland attracted one and all and it was really a sensational sight for the viewers.

It was the Badrutt’s Palace Diamonds side which batted first and posted a competitive total of 164 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Sehwag scored 62 off a mere 31 deliveries which included five fours and four sixes. The knock from Sehwag provided early impetus to the innings but with the wickets at regular intervals Royals made a strong comeback.

It was a competitive score but not a winning score while professional cricketers were tasting something new and exciting.

The Royals made light work of the total and chased the total down in the 15th over. It was former England batsman Owais Shah who struck a magnificent 74 of 34 deliveries which were decorated with 5 fours and 7 hits over the fence. It was good bowling practice for man =y of the veteran cricketers who have already retired from international cricket.

Indian U-19 star and a bowler who has consistently bowled in the 145 km/hr marks in the U-19 World Cup is none other than Nagarkoti.

Taking to his twitter handle Nagarkoti congratulated Virender Sehwag on hitting a terrific half-century at St Moritz.
