New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had to head to a hospital after suffering an injury scare during the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh.  The right-handed batsman suffered a left shoulder injury while diving in the field during Bangladesh’s first innings. He, however, came out to bat late on day three and resumed his batting on day four too. But he twice had to call out the physio and didn’t look comfortable playing some shots.

But the pain did not stop him from scoring his 50th 50 in Test cricket before he was dismissed for 74 by spinner Taijul Islam. And as soon as he left the playing field, he headed to hospital for some precautionary scans. Williamson will be desperately hoping that the injury is not serious considering the busy and important schedule ahead.

Later this month, he will head to India for the Indian Premier League where he will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad and will then lead New Zealand in the ICC World Cup, starting May 30.

Williamson is also likely to take a cautious approach with injury and if  the Black Caps manage to beat Bangladesh in the ongoing game, he could very well skip the third game which will be inconsequential.

Talking about the game, the first two days of the Test were washed out but action resumed on day three. The hosts, nonetheless, have given themselves a big chance of taking an unassailable lead in the series. In the first innings, they bowled out Bangladesh for just 211. Neil Wagner starred with the ball, picking up 4 wickets while Trent Boult picked up three. In reply, New Zealand were comfortably placed at 396 for 4 in 80 overs in the final session of day four. Veteran batsman Ross Taylor was batting on 195 while Henry Nicholls was just dismissed on 107.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
