India cricket legend Kapil Dev took to Instagram to share an update about his health after suffering a mild heart attack on Friday. Dev underwent angioplasty soon after suffering the attack and was reported to be in a stable condition. The news came as major shock for his fans as they took to various social media handles to wish him well. From Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to India captain Virat Kohli – everyone prayed for his quick recovery.
Dev, 62, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of the night.
Kapil Dev on road to speedy recovery
Kapil Dev thanked everyone for their prayers and concern. He also mentioned that he was left overwhelmed with the support and is well on the road to recovery. The legend is currently admitted in the ICU and under close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. He is in a stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days.
Dev led India to their first-ever World Cup triumph. The 1983 World Cup triumph was special for India, not only as a first, but also because it changed the face of cricket in the country.
West Indies were the side to beat in the 1983 World Cup. Opting to field, the world beaters had a morale victory at the toss. India managed to score 183 runs as they were bundled out in 54.4 overs with Sir Andy Roberts picking up a three-wicket haul while Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding returned two wickets each.
