Yet another player turned his bachelor status to married on Saturday. The flamboyant batsman from Karnataka, Karun Nair, who already received his Indian Jersey tied the wedding knot to his long-time girlfriend Sanaya Tankariwala. Shreyas Iyer, Varun Aaron, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane were among the few Indian cricketers who attended Karun Nair’s wedding and post-wedding celebrations.

Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer posted pictures on Instagram with spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and fast bowler Shardul Thakur from an evening party hosted by the newlywed couple. All three players set to play the final ODI of the series on Sunday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Alongside the trio, Varun Aaron posted a picture on his social media and wrote, “To a lifetime of love and happiness !!???????? @sanayatankariwala @karun_6.”

A fluent stroke maker who relies a lot on touch play than sheer power, Karun is a delight to watch when he gets going. Karun Nair became only the second Indian cricketer to score a triple-century in Test cricket when he scored an unbeaten 303 against England in Chennai in 2016. He is also only the Test batsman in the history of the game to convert debut hundred into a triple ton.

However, everything wasn’t that great for him after the triple century. He failed to make things happen for him in the Indian team after scoring only 71 runs in his next five Test matches. After his last Test against Australia in Dharamshala in 2017, the national selectors have not paid much attention to the right-hander.

Despite the ignorance of the selectors, Nair has been a dominant force in the domestic circuit. In 77 first-class matches, he has amassed 5446 runs at an average of 49.5. He has also scored 14 centuries and 25 half-centuries.

However, he doesn’t own equally-destructive figures in white-ball cricket. In 78 List A matches, Nair has scored 1953 runs at an average of 31.5 with only two hundreds and 12 fifties. His T20 numbers are 2623 runs in 128 matches at an average of 25.71.
