Shreyas Iyer has come a long way in the Indian team lately. Having made the No. 4 spot his own, he has been gelling well within the team in the New Zealand tour. Time and again we see Indian players have a funny banter with each and Iyer was the latest one to poke fun at Virat Kohli on Friday.

The middle-order batsman Iyer decided to pull the leg of skipper, on Instagram, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a picture of Kohli.

Right before the toss between India and New Zealand in the first Test at Wellington, BCCI took to Instagram and posted a picture of Kohli with a caption that read, “Let’s put on our thinking caps and caption this? The best one will feature right here. Go.Go.Go”

In the post, Virat can be seen in a blazer and in a somewhat strange dancing position, to which Iyer had a hilarious reply.

He commented, ‘Ke Ghunghroo Toot Gaye’, referring to a famous song’s hook step from the movie ‘War’.

Meanwhile, Iyers seems to be enjoying his time away from cricket, as he was not included in the Indian squad for the Test series versus New Zealand.

Since being asked to play at the No. 4 slot, the 25-year-old has been a revelation for Team India.

In the limited-overs, he has consistently scored runs in the past eight months and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks into the Test squad too.

Elsewhere in Wellington, New Zealand won the toss earlier on Friday and asked India to bat first, after which the hosts made a breathtaking start to the first Test. Pacer Kyle Jamieson scalped three early wickets, including that of Kohli.

Having also dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari, Jamieson helped the Kiwis to restrict India to just 122 runs at the loss of five wickets at stumps on Day 1.

The play was called off due to an inclement weather at Basin Reserve.
