Kings XI Punjab Left Red-Faced After Attempt To Troll Rajasthan Royals Backfires

Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals have set the tone for the upcoming IPL season with some serious banter on their official Twitter handles. The BCCI, on Tuesday, finally announced the schedule but not the full schedule. The board released the schedule of the first 17 games while the whole schedule is still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates.

The games will be played during this 2 weeks period across the 8 home venues of the respective franchises. All teams will play minimum of 4 matches with Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore playing 5 matches. Every team will play minimum of 2 home and 2 away matches with Delhi Capitals playing 3 home matches while Royal Challengers Bangalore will play 3 away matches.

Kings XI Punjab, nonetheless, will open their account against Rajasthan Royals. And when they took to Twitter to announce their schedule, they made sure to set the tone by taking a shot at the Royals.

“Feeling Pink aren’t we, @rajasthanroyals? Let’s hope an encounter with us in our #IPL2019 opener doesn’t leave you red-faced ? ,” wrote Kings XI Punjab.

Well, Rajasthan Royals came up with an equally good reply and did manage to leave Kings XI Punjab red-faced, writing:

“Hey @lionsdenkxip, we’ll save you the blushes, considering you’ve never won in Jaipur. History is quite comforting, isn’t it?”

Meanwhile, both the teams will be looking to lay their hands on the trophy this season. Neither of the two teams have enjoyed good outings in the league in recent years.

Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of the IPL under the captaincy of Shane Warne, despite being written off as a title contender by the majority. But since then nothing much has gone their way. In 2015, the Supreme Court suspended them and Chennai Super Kings for two years over a corruption and match fixing scandal. The Royals returned to the competition for the 2018 season and made an instant impression by making it to the playoffs.

Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, have not made it to the playoffs since their final appearance in 2014, their best result till date.
